Here we are...

So I thought I would start a blog... really should have started this like 2 years ago! In my defense I have been kind of busy. So here is a little about me and my family.

My partner Julie and I have been together for about 15 years. About 3 years ago we decided we wanted to have a baby. I have no idea what took us so long. Ok, well it was me. I really thought I did not want to have a baby. I had a really bad childhood and did not want to recreate any of that with my offspring.

At 33 my biological clock stared buzzing loudly and I hit the snooze bar for a few years. Even got a puppy to try to quell the screaming of the clock. Honestly, I didn't even realize I was wanting a baby. Finally I gave in and told Julie we needed to start a family with babies that have 2 legs instead of 4.

We set out to get me knocked up...seem simple enough right? Well, it took a lot of money and more time then I thought it would. We started out doing IUIs with a specialist and that did not work. Six months and one laparoscopy later we decided to do IVF.

During the IVF we got like 20 eggs but only 6 fertilized and only ONE made it to blast. We returned that embryo back into my uterus and waited 2 wks... A really LONG two weeks. On my birthday (only 9 days after the transfer) I peed on a stick. It was negative. Depressed I throw the stick in the trash and got into the shower. When I got out for some reason I fished the pee stick out of the trash and it was faint positive. I freaked... I knew that it was past the time frame but I had NEVER gotten a positive even after days.

So I was pregnant with one beautiful baby, so I thought. At 6 wks I went to the RE to get a sonogram. I knew what to look for. I was an experienced sonographer at this point. Having gone through sooooo many of them. I knew to look for a flickering silver flash. Well, I saw the one...then before the Doc even saw it I saw the second! IDENTICAL TWINS!!!!!!!
